Sunset over the Malecón in Puerto Vallarta, with the seahorse statue

Mexico · Pacific Coast

Puerto Vallarta & Riviera Nayarit

Our second home: one month at a time between the Zona Romántica and Riviera Nayarit.

📍 Location notes: On the Pacific coast, in Banderas Bay — about 3.5 hours by car from Guadalajara. — see the map ↓

Puerto Vallarta is our second home on the Pacific coast. Banderas Bay, the Sierra Madre plunging into the ocean, sunsets setting the Malecón ablaze… We keep coming back for long stays, one month at a time, mostly to escape the heart of the Quebec winter. Our base camp: the Zona Romántica, the old town — cobblestone streets, restaurants galore, lively nightlife and a welcoming community. And when we want a change of pace, Riviera Nayarit stretches just to the north: laid-back Bucerías, bohemian Sayulita, chic Punta de Mita. In Vallarta, we don’t just visit: we take the time to live — market in the morning, beach in the afternoon, tacos at night.

What we love

✓ Mild, dry winters: sunshine almost guaranteed from November to April.
✓ The Zona Romántica: everything on foot, in an inclusive, festive atmosphere.
✓ Street food and markets: tacos, ceviches, grilled fish on the beach.
✓ Humpback whales in the bay during winter season.
✓ The variety of beaches, from the lively old town to the quiet coves of Riviera Nayarit.
